Description

This was my big project for Venetian Carnival 2013
It's actually one of the biggest projects I ever made in matters of expenses and time, and I'm really, really proud of the result
This is a replica of Maria Theresa of Austria's final gown from Takarazuka's "Treasure Sword of the Hapsburg" production, I'm absolutely in love with that show:heart: story, music and costumes are simply amazing and the cast even more so :D
And then it's Arimura, and Arimura designs are always amazing. He's a huge inspiration

This dress is a three-piece set (skirt, bust+overskirt and matle), plus cage, crinoline and corset underneath.
It's made from a synthetic mix fabric that costed a ridiculously low fare (2.5€ per meter), took some 10mt of it to make everything^^
The decorations are made of thermostitching marcamè lace and off-white pearls that I hand-stitched one by one ==;; that was the most unnerving, time consuming work, but I'm so proud of the result:heart: I ran out of pearls for the back part but I'll finish it...one day. you can't really see it with the mantle so no big problem XD the decorations run on the sleeves, bust, overskirt and mantle :D the ruffles are made with macramè lace ribbon, some 15mt of it.
The pattern is a simplified robe de court, very much simplified in the sense that there are zippers all over XD
As I was saying, this thing was HUGE.
The decorations costed a total of 200€, making this dress with it's total of 280€ and a total of 180hours of work the most expensive and time consuming I ever made.
It was frustrating but I loved every single moment I spent making it :heart:
I don't know if I'll ever be able to make something this decorated ever again...both for the price and for the time, but I find I actually love to see decorations come to life as much as I like making dresses, so I might be tempted to try again XD
