Saffy - Takarazuka's "Gipsy Baron" by giusynuno Saffy - Takarazuka's "Gipsy Baron" by giusynuno
I really, really enjoyed Takarazuka's ジプシー男爵(Gipsy Baron) and it's pair musical Rhapsodic Moon, one of the best shows I've everr seen :D
The story comes from Strauss's operetta "Der Zigeunerbaron", it was a very colorful re-enactment :)
This is a replica of Saffy's 「風が歌っている」("The wind is singing") dress, which is my favourite song from the show  we are planning a group from this show, I can't wait to make the other dresses too :D

Soooo...this is a three pieces (top with attached overskirt-skirt-sleeves) dress + short crinoline, made with plain red cotton for the top and the sleeves, red satin+red and gold lace for the skirt and black decorations all over :D
It was a lot of fun to make this, expecially the decorations on the top because it was a game of cutting the lace in the right way, then putting it the right way again and cover it all with black tulle XD I was lucky to see the dress from close so I could try to reproduce de decorations as best as I could :)

Thank youuuuuuuuu :glomp:
This was something different from what I usually make, I really enjoyed making it :D
The dress, and the crinoline underneath XD That I hated because I couldn't find the right fabric and had to make layers and layers and layers of hard tulle to make it rigid enough XD

That's one issue of crinolines - they look AMAZING but they are SO tricky - I hate gathering the tulle at the waist - and doing it in panels is just as evil too!

I just stopped making them in panels because I get nervous in a moment when the layers move XXXXDDDD I really should make a new one to give volume in the lower part of a dress but the idea of gathering the tulle just KILLS me xxxxDDDDD

Gathering tulle must be one of the LEAST enjoyable experiences ever...

Well if she's going to pay you for it, then that would be one thing... If not... I've not tried it but I'm wondering if maybe using embroidery thread would work for gathering? I know that machine gathering multiple layers doesn't work because I had to unpick an entire petticoat of red and black tulle for my Sarah skirt after finding that out the hard way haha.

She's not, that's why I'm so disappointed in having to make it XXDD
I was told by a freidn that she gathers with embroidery thread actually, but I haven't had the time to try it yet...I'm too wondering if it works better! I only know that I can machine gather only after I've made it by hand, or else I'll end up with leaving a couple of layers out...I so understand you ><
